”There are no reasons to believe
I buried my faith in another plot
Where your heart and your claws will not find”
Sedan kommer det tionde spåret, We Did It When We Were Young, och energin försvinner.
”I cannot hold a candle for every pretty gun
We were strangers many hours
And I missed you for so long
When we were lions, lovers in combat
Faded like your name on those jeans I burned”
”I had seven faces
Thought I new which one to wear
But I’m sick of spending these lonely nights
Training myself not to care”
Interpol
”NYC”
Turn On the Bright Lights (2002)
”From the crossroads of my doorstep
My eyes they start to fade
As I turn my head back to the room
Where my love and I have laid
An’ I gaze back to the street
The sidewalk and the sign
And I’m one too many mornings
An’ a thousand miles behind”
– Bob Dylan, One Too Many Mornings
”I once loved a girl, but she couldn’t take
that I visited troublesome houses.
She’d say, when I got home, to leave her alone.
She could taste trouble on my mouth.
When she was gone I missed her, I did …
And still went to troublesome places.”
Bonnie Prince Billy & The Cairo Gang
”Troublesome Houses”
The Wonder Show of the World (2010)
We are like roses that have never bothered to
bloom when we should have bloomed and
it is as if
the sun has become disgusted with
waiting
– Charles Bukowski
Basattuvet.
”How fickle my heart and how woozy my eyes
I struggle to find any truth in your lies
And now my heart stumbles on things I don’t know

”Well my sense of humanity has gone down the drain
Behind every beautiful thing there’s been some kind of pain
She wrote me a letter and she wrote it so kind
She put down in writing what was in her mind
I just don’t see why I should even care
It’s not dark yet, but it’s getting there”
Bob Dylan
”Not Dark Yet”
Time Out of Mind (1997)
”Well I have a good time

And I hear beautiful sounds
coming outa the ground.
Gonna take us a while
but we’ll go hundreds of times.”

Boys and Girls in America (2006)
Lord: it is time. The huge summer has gone by.
Now overlap the sundials with your shadows,
and on the meadows let the wind go free.
Command the fruits to swell on tree and vine;
grant them a few more warm transparent days,
urge them on to fulfillment then, and press
the final sweetness into the heavy wine.
Whoever has no house now, will never have one.
Whoever is alone will stay alone,
will sit, read, write long letters through the evening,
and wander on the boulevards, up and down,
restlessly, while the dry leaves are blowing.
Rainer Maria Rilke

Can’t you find somebody else that you can ring and tell?”

”She was married when we first met
Soon to be divorced
I helped her out of a jam, I guess,
But I used a little too much force.
We drove that car as far as we could
Abandoned it out West
Split up on a dark sad night
Both agreeing it was best.
She turned around to look at me
As I was walkin’ away
I heard her say over my shoulder,
‘We’ll meet again someday on the avenue,’
Tangled up in blue.”
Bob Dylan
